REACTIONS TO SAUDI EXECUTION OF SHEIKH NIMR

Compiled Reports
............The contentious of both images posted on the website of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei depicts what appears to be an Isis fighter holding a knife above a hostage. A second image appears to show a Saudi executioner brandishing a sword with a prisoner in a grey jumpsuit kneeling before him. The question “any differences?” hangs above the two images.
The image comes as the Iranian supreme leader renewed his attack on Saudi Arabia over its execution of leading Shia cleric, Sheikh Nimr-al Nimr. He said that politicians in the kingdom would face the divine retribution for his death. Sheik Nimr was among 47 people who were executed on Saturday after being convicted of terrorism charges.

EU warns of 'dangerous consequences' of Saudi cleric execution

The European Union's foreign policy chief warned on Saturday that Saudi Arabia's execution of a prominent Shi'ite Muslim cleric risked "dangerous consequences" by further inflaming sectarian tensions in the region.
The kingdom executed cleric Nimr al-Nimr on Saturday alongside dozens of al Qaeda members, signaling that it would not tolerate attacks, whether by Sunni jihadists or from its Shi'ite minority.
EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, reiterating the bloc's opposition to the death penalty and mass executions in particular, said Nimr's case raised serious concerns over freedom of expression and the respect of basic civil and political rights in Saudi Arabia.
"This case has also the potential of inflaming further the sectarian tensions that already bring so much damage to the entire region, with dangerous consequences," she said, urging Saudi authorities to promote reconciliation between different communities in the country.

Outraged over execution of leading Shia Muslim cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr and his three associates by Saudi Arabia government, the Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Hind (MUH), an all India organization of Shia clerics, and the All India Shia Muslim Personal Law Board (AISMPLB) on Saturday gave call for a nationwide peaceful protest on January 4.
